Ben Garner says his side have had a full reset following last week’s disappointing points haul.
The U’s gave themselves a great platform to push themselves up the League Two table after beating Notts County 5-4 in a thriller at the JobServe Community Stadium – but failed to follow it up with back-to-back defeats against Newport and Morecambe.
But after a full week on the training pitch, U’s Head Coach Ben Garner has said his side have been able to reset and re-focus their attentions to this weekend’s clash with bottom side Forest Green Rovers.
“A reset was needed. It was a disappointing week in the end after the high at the start of the week with the performance against Notts County. There was disappointment we didn’t follow it up at Newport and more so at the weekend against Morecambe.
“We’ve needed a full week on the training ground, and the response has been really positive, it’s been really good. But being honest, the players have trained well all season. There’s been a real edge to training and we’ve had a couple of players come back in.
“Tom Dallison has trained fully this week, Owura Edwards has part trained, then fully today [Thursday], Kels has part trained this week and that’s given the group a lift and it’s been nice to see those players back out there.
“Forest Green have had some really good performances, and haven’t taken the points that they’d have wanted in those games. You can see the quality in their squad and there’s several players that have played at a really high level, and they’ve also got some really talented young players too.”
