Colchester United U21s will take on Charlton Athletic U21 at the JobServe Community Stadium on Tuesday 24th October at 7pm.
It will be the U’s eighth match in the Professional Development League with Matty Etherington’s side managing six points from seven games so far this season. The youngsters won two games and lost five.
Etherington, however, will not oversee the youngsters against Charlton, having been put in interim charge of the first team, following Ben Garner's dismissal.
U21s Assistant Coach Liam Bailey will move up to oversee the youngsters on Tuesday night.
Last time out in the league, the U’s succumbed to a 1-0 defeat against Bournemouth, before being beaten by Chelsea 5-2 in the Premier League Cup. Colchester also faced Crystal Palace in a friendly last week that finished in a goalless draw.
Charlton Athletic sit just above the U’s in the PDL table in eighth place, having amassed eight points from eight games. So far in this campaign, the Addicks won two matches, drew two and lost four.
Out of their last three clashes, the London-based side won one and lost two. Last time out, the Addicks were beaten by Millwall U21 by three goals to two.
A Colchester win would take the U's above Charlton in the table.
