Ahead of the clash with Tranmere Rovers, Jayden signed a new deal with the U’s that will keep him at the JobServe Community Stadium until the summer of 2025.
The twenty-year-old said that he is “really proud” to have signed the contract, highlighting that it’s a “big step in his career”. He added: “I thank everyone involved. It’s a happy day for me.
“I had a chat with the gaffer at the end of last season about having a strong pre-season and pushing for a starting place, and I feel like I’ve got a stronger case to build and just take every game as it comes and try to solidify my place in the team.”
Colchester’s winger also spoke about the team’s frustration following their defeat to Walsall, adding that Ben Garner’s side will be looking to bounce back on Saturday.
Jayden said: “Of course, we’re not happy when we’re not winning, especially coming off the back of a win [against Gillingham] and playing in the way that we did, [we] were really disappointed as a team and frustrated.
“Now we just have to build from that and rectify the performance on Saturday.”
