Cam hoping for more goals on Tuesday night

26 February 2024

Cameron McGeehan was on pre-match duties ahead of the U’s trip to Salford City on Tuesday night (KO 7:45pm).

The midfielder will be hoping for some more goals at the Peninsula Stadium having found the back of the net in the U’s encounter with Sutton United three days prior.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Cam touched upon the joys of away games, saying: “It’s quite nice, we’re all together, it’s a good set of lads with a good team spirit, so it's always quite enjoyable getting on the coach and getting looked after well, staying in a nice hotel, having nice food, and then getting ready for a massive game.”

Nonetheless, the twenty-eight-year-old also stressed that despite decent performances recently, his side must start turning draws into three points.

Cam explained: “I think the performances have been there and I just think it's all about more belief and trust.

“We've got some really good players. I’ve been saying  it since I signed, but we've genuinely got good players here, we've got a good way of playing and performances like I said have been much, much improved the last few weeks and get better each week.

“So it’s just about waiting for that game where you bring it all together and then we can just turn it into a win and  crack on and obviously we want to get the wins as quickly as possible.”

The midfielder added that it’ll be a tough game on Tuesday night, but he can’t wait to get out on the pitch and fight for an important victory.

Cam said: “They’ve got a good manager. I’ve played against his teams a lot and he’s made good impact there so it's going to be a difficult game.

“But they had a tough result on Saturday so it’s a good chance for us to play them hopefully and get straight into them and like I said turn some of these performances into three points.”
