We are delighted to announce that the Hiscox Foundation UK have donated £10,000 to support Colchester United Community Foundation

The Hiscox Foundation UK is the charitable arm of the Hiscox Group. They look to provide support to organisations who have a strong presence in the communities they serve and are a commutable distance away from a Hiscox office. CUCF are based at Shrub End Community and Sports Centre (CO2 9BG), this is located only 2 miles away from the Hiscox office in Colchester. The Hiscox Foundation’s approach to charitable giving is divided into three key pillars, these are:1)Social mobility and entrepreneurship.2)Protecting and preserving the environment.3)Causes that our people (Hiscox employees) are passionate about. For more information about the Hiscox Foundation, please visit this link - https://www.hiscoxgroup.com/hiscox-foundation-uk

The funding will support CUCF with overhead costs for some of the incredible projects our team run across North Essex, that focus on social mobility. Without Hiscox Foundation’s amazing support, it could have seen some of our free to attend projects become paid for, to cover the increase in operational costs.

Head of the Health & Inclusion department for CUCF, Ed King said: “We are very grateful to the Hiscox Foundation for their incredible donation to support our Health and Inclusion department. Without the amazing support of the Hiscox Foundation, it could have seen our subscription programme costs increase and also see some of our free to attend provision become paid for, due to the increase in operating costs over the last year. The money they have provided helps to ensure that cost will not become a barrier for people looking to get active”.

Trustee of the UK Hiscox Foundation and Head of Property Claims at Hiscox, Keeley Davies, and her colleague Faye Braidwood, presented CUCF with a cheque during Colchester United’s recent game against Accrington Stanley. When Keeley was asked about the donation she said: “The Hiscox Foundation are delighted to be able to support the work of the Colchester United Community Foundation. 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of opening the Hiscox Colchester office. Throughout that time, being connected with and having a positive impact on our local community has been a constant focus.  One of the core pillars of our charitable giving strategy is supporting programmes that offer training and support to disadvantaged or vulnerable groups, in particular where such groups are very local to a Hiscox office, and where there may be opportunities for collaboration beyond funding.  I am thrilled that our donation will enable CUCF to continue running their fantastic initiatives across North Essex providing valuable support to thousands of people.”
