Tom Dallison was on pre-match duties ahead of Colchester United's clash against promotion-hopeful Stockport County on Saturday afternoon at the JobServe Community Stadium (KO 3pm).

The defender touched upon a busy schedule that the U’s had to endure in the last few days, saying: “Games are coming thick and fast at the moment, just how we want them.

“We were recovering on Thursday from a heavy game on Tuesday, a point on the road which we’re happy with. The boys have recovered well, we've got a squad that’s good in depth, good in numbers, so we're in a good place.”

Tom added: “The lads are in a really good place, everyone trained very well each day and everyone is fighting for their shirts, which is really healthy - healthy competition. I'm sure the lads are trying to give the gaffer as much of a headache as possible, which is a good place to be.“

Colchester’s number six has struggled for minutes recently, observing three out of the U’s last four matches from the bench. He did, however, play the full ninety minutes against Salford City on Tuesday night.

Speaking about his time away from the starting eleven, Tom said: “It's been frustrating. I had a spell on the side-lines coming back from a few little niggles and stuff and, it's just a case of supporting the lads and being ready, and when you are called upon making sure you're ready to do a job as needed.”

Lastly, the twenty-eight-year-old stressed that his side will be aiming to secure all three points on Saturday afternoon despite facing tough opposition

“Once you cross the white line, the league position and form go out the window”, Tom said.  “You're playing against eleven men, and we'll put ourselves in the best position possible to go and get three points on Saturday.”
