Danny Cowley has been speaking ahead of the U’s Sky Bet League Two clash against Wrexham taking place at the JobServe Community Stadium on Saturday 6th April (KO 3pm).

The Head Coach said: “It’s a brilliant few days for us. I think everybody associated with Colchester United, they get super excited about what is to come. We play Wrexham and then Stockport County and it's always great to play the best teams in the division, and obviously we’re all looking forward to it.

“We had a really good Easter. We took four points from the two games. We had a brilliant game on Good Friday. I thought the support at home was just incredible, the way they stayed with the team. We had so many chance in the second half with so much dominance in that game. Unfortunately, we couldn’t take those chances and the crowd just stayed really patient.

“They stayed with us and I think they played their part in that win, because I think if they'd got frustrated then maybe Ellis [Iandolo] puts the ball in the box earlier than he did. He ended up being patient, working it round to Jay [Mingi] off the switch of play and then Jay and Harry [Anderson] combined and we scored that goal at that brilliant moment.

“When we left the stadium on the Friday, it was such a great feeling and it felt like such a connection between the players and the supporters, which is so important. And of course, we find out that just earlier this week the game is sold out in the home end, which is just incredible.

“I don't think there's another team that is in the position that we're in that sells their home end out.

“We are so thankful to the people of Colchester and the people of Essex that they get behind the team in the way that they do.”
