Arthur Read’s second strike against Notts County has been named the Colchester United Goal of the Month for September 2023.
The midfielder struck two contenders as the U’s beat the league leaders 5-4 in a thrilling game here at the JobServe Community Stadium, but you have voted his second as the best goal for September.
The other contenders were Joe Taylor’s goal against Mansfield Town, Noah Chilvers’ against Notts County, and Arthur’s free kick from the same game.
Speaking after collecting the accolade, Read said it has been something he has been trying to add to his game.
“There were four very good goals to be fair, but I’m buzzing that it was my goal. It was a few weeks ago now, but I was really happy with it, a great finish!
“It’s something that I’ve definitely needed to add to my game. I’ve had my agent, my family and the Gaffer speaking to me saying that I need to get some shots off from around the area – so it was more of a case of putting it into action.
“I knew I hit it cleanly, I was just focused on the technique as it was coming across my body, and just hitting the target.”
