We recently welcomed over 70 children to Shrub End Community and Sports Centre for our Down's Syndrome, Autism and Neurodivergence friendly football and multi-skills taster session - for what turned out (thanks to the weather!) to be a morning of 2 distinctively different halves!
Although the sunshine was definitely brought by the children, the coaches and Eddie the Eagle, we unfortuntaly weren't so lucky with the very changeable climate conditions and a significant downpour (accompanied by an icy wind) stopped main play for a bit, however all of the CUCF staff, (and some of the participants!) battled on through the storm while Eddie the Eagle popped inside to dry his feathers!
Eventually the clouds started to part and the rest of the morning was great fun and the children enjoyed a range of invasion games, goal scoring activities, ball skill tutoring and balance and agility exercises.
The whole session was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved and we are hoping to boost our already successful disability provision and put some teams together to represent Colchester United CF against other clubs.
