It’s time to pick the best goal from March with our Goal of the Month competition.
There were four good goals scored in March, all of which you can choose as your favourite to win the Goal of the Month – head to Col U Tickets to cast your vote from 7pm this evening. The winner will be announced in due course.
Cameron McGeehan vs Walsall
The U’s were trailing at half time to the Saddlers, but quickly found an equaliser after the break through Cameron McGeehan. Brad Ihionvien’c cut back couldn’t find John Akinde, but fortunately bounced off a visiting defender to set up McGeehan for the finish, which he duly applied.
Harry Anderson vs Mansfield Town
Not many people would have expected Danny Cowley’s side to take the lead at promotion-chasing Mansfield Town, but Harry Anderson did just that for his side. Jayden Fevrier’s cross was held up by Tom Hopper for Anderson to beat his man and fire accurately into the bottom corner.
Ellis Iandolo vs Newport County
Trailing with fifteen minutes to play, the U’s needed to come up with something against play-off hopefuls Newport County. Cameron McGeehan’s corner kick allowed Iandolo to notch his first for the club, getting the better of his marker to knock the ball in at the back post.
Jay Mingi vs Newport County
Perhaps the most important goal scored in March, Jay Mingi netted in stoppage time to secure a first home win in 20204 for Colchester United. Playing a 1-2 with Harry Anderson, Mingi dismissed calls for a cross to blast the ball beyond Townsend and into the roof of the net to complete the turnaround at the JobServe Community Stadium.
