A goal in each half saw Colchester United U23s fall to defeat against Hull City on Sunday afternoon.

The U's dominated the early stages of the game, but Bailey Vose had to be on his toes to save from Keane Lewis-Potter.

Ryan Clampin (pictured) then tested the home goalkeeper George Long with a long distance effort, before City broke the deadlock on 29 minutes.

Tyler Hamilton was the man on target, running forward before striking into the bottom corner.

The U's thought they might have equalised seven minutes later through Eoin McKeown, but the goal was disallowed.

Paul Rooney came on for Clampin at half time, and the U's were to show first after the interval, when Callum Jones was just unable to make the most of a defensive mix-up as he slipped his shot wide.

McKeown had a great chance to level but could only lift his effort over, before Hull clinched the game with fifteen minutes to go.

Salam crossed for Lewis-Potter, who in turn found Callum Smith, and he curled home a great effort to make it 2-0.
