Colchester United will take on Tranmere Rovers on Easter Monday at Prenton Park following their Good Friday encounter at home against Newport County.
Both teams find themselves in the lower half of the table, with the U’s fighting to climb out of the bottom three and Tranmere aiming to mathematically secure safety and potentially push for a mid-table finish.
The Opposition
Before the busy Easter period, the Rovers sat seven places above the North Essex side in 15th place with fifty points from forty matches.
Nigel Adkins’ men have been in good form recently securing three wins and one draw in their last five matches before Easter. Their only defeat came on 23rd March when they faced play-off-chasing Crawley.
Speaking after the loss, Adkins said: “Some of the football was good. We passed the ball well and we tried to get into good areas. It was difficult conditions, so I have to give the players a lot of credit.”
Tranmere’s boss will be hoping for more goals from his key men on Monday, especially Connor Jennings who has seventeen goal contributions (eleven goals and six assists) in thirty-two League Two matches.
Last Time We Met
Strikes from Joe Taylor and Bradley Ihionvien secured a well-deserved 2-0 victory for the U’s at the JobServe Community Stadium on 9th September 2023.
