On Tuesday, Colchester United player Ben Perry visited one of our Premier League Kicks sessions at Colchester Academy, where our coaches were delivering a Rainbow Laces workshop highlighting inclusion and allyship.

As part of the session, our coaches combined football and with the topic to encourage discussions and help raise awareness around inclusion and allyship.

The activity, which combined football with LGBT+ themed questions, got participants thinking about how they can help make football more welcoming for everyone.

During the matches, Ben stepped in to coach the teams, offering guidance, encouragement, and plenty of enthusiasm throughout.

He then stayed to answer questions from the young people and take photos, giving participants a memorable experience with a professional football player.

We’d like to thank Ben for his time and positivity, and to all participants for engaging so openly in the workshop and activities.

Premier League Kicks is one of the Premier League’s flagship community programmes, using free football, workshops, and positive pathways to help boys and girls aged 8–18 build confidence, stay active, and feel supported within their local community.
